Our research combines ecology and evolutionary biology to examine host-parasite interactions. Our study organisms are crustaceans, rotifers and freshwater snails. We examine how infection by multiple parasite strains or species affects the evolution of virulence. We study environmental, epigenetic and maternal effects on host immunity. We investigate whether sexual reproduction is favored over asexual reproduction in the presence of parasites. We use the combination of field work, laboratory experiments and molecular methods.
